Posted by Journeys Within on May 23rd, 2011 The pump room is set to be torn down tomorrow, and today the pylons have started to go in. The giant machine that pounds them into the ground is incredibly loud and annoying, but hopefully they will be done with it in the next day or two. Our poor UGA students have to listen to it during the day, but I think it is making them get out and explore more! Silver lining people… All […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 17th, 2011 By: Nicole Long – Laos tour director Maybe I am partial but I have to say that I think Luang Prabang is one of the major gems of South East Asia. After traveling and working around the region I can say that I am living in a beautiful paradise that resembles a time from the past. This quaint, peaceful city is one of the easiest to navigate and explore on your own. I have heard […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 16th, 2011 The giant holes have thankfully been filled in by the pool, which means all of the pipes have been moved. We now have a brand new pump room, and the old one can be torn down! This is great, because once that old building is gone, the new bungalows can begin! Also, it looks like they are going to start adding some […] View full post »

Posted by Journeys Within on May 15th, 2011 By: Kathryn Rose The other day was Nary’s birthday, so a few of us decided it was high time we tried the famed Touich Restaurant in Siem Reap. Guests go there all the time and come back raving about how good the food was. Many people tell us it was the best meal they had while in Cambodia. Touich is consistently high on Trip Advisor, staying at #1 most of the time. Somehow none of […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 12th, 2011 There is a very large hole in the ground near our pool, and we are happy to see it! It means they are moving all of the pipes from the old pump room across the pool to the new pump room! The new pump room will be behind room 5, and that building is almost complete. Hooray for huge, ugly trenches! (That better be filled back in within the next 3 days!) Once all of […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 7th, 2011 The construction crew has been working really hard, and it actually looks a structure is in our near future! It seems like we went from big holes in the ground to brick wall really quickly, and that is a good thing. The massage room was demolished last week, and they are now in the process of digging very large trenches to move the pool piping from one side to the other. Keep in mind, all […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 6th, 2011 By: Kathryn Rose Chiang Mai is a really cute little city, slightly reminiscent of Siem Reap (but bigger). While I was there with my friend for 3 nights, we chose to stay at the Baan Orapin Bed and Breakfast. It is consistently ranked very high on Trip Advisor, so we decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. This little gem of a hotel was the perfect fit for Chiang Mai, and we could […] View full post »
Posted by Journeys Within on May 1st, 2011 By: Kathryn Rose On my recent trip to Thailand, I decided that it would be a good idea to save some money and go overland from Siem Reap to Bangkok. This was great in theory; it should not have been too hard. And the first part of my trip was easy! The bus had AC, it was not full of people, and it only stopped a few times. Then came the border, and my day […] View full post »
